Man United set to miss out on completing mega million move for striker who wants to join Red Devils

According to Italian media reports, Manchester United transfer target Mauro Icardi has been handed the opportunity to become the second-highest best paid footballer in the Italian league.

Napoli have allegedly offered him a news contract as the side attempt to beat Manchester United and Chelsea to the signature of the striker, as per reports.

Italian newspaper Tuttomercatoweb, as cited by the Daily Mirror, is stating that the Italian club have presented the prolific striker with an €11million deal.

The Inter skipper would emerge as the second-highest paid footballer in the Italian league should a transfer to Napoli happen.

The same report suggest that English Premier League duo Manchester United and Chelsea are believed to be keen on a move to land the 26-year-old.

As per the same report, the English duo will also have to battle UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid and Italian Serie A leaders Juventus.

The forward has fallen out with his club hierarchy to fuel rumour surrounding the future of the player at the San Siro.

The Prolific Argentina international striker has netted 122 goals in 240 matches across all competitions in the past five and a half campaigns at San Siro outfit Inter Milan.

He joined Inter Milan from another Serie A club Sampdoria in a reported €6.5millio deal at the conclusion of the 2012-13 league season.

For all of the goals he has scored with Inter Milan, the Inter Captain is still waiting to lift any silverware after scooping several personal awards during his stint at the Italian club.
